Rohit Sharma to join Royal Challengers Bengaluru? Former RCB star denies rumours
New Delhi: Rohit Sharma was in the news a lot during the IPL 2024. Mumbai Indians removed Rohit from the captaincy. Hardik Pandya was made the captain in his place. News started coming that Hitman will be separated from Mumbai Indians next season. Meanwhile, South Africa and Royal Challengers Bengaluru said a big thing about Rohit Sharma joining RCB.
It was also claimed in many media reports that Rohit Sharma will be a part of Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025, but AB de Villiers brought a new twist to this matter. So let’s know what AB de Villiers has to say about Rohit.
“I almost laughed at the Rohit comment. That will be quite a story if Rohit moves from Mumbai Indians to RCB. Wow! Imagine the headlines. It will be bigger than Hardik Pandya’s move. He moved from Gujarat Titans back to Mumbai, which although wasn’t big a surprise,” de Villiers said.
“But if Rohit moves from Mumbai to join his rivals in RCB…oh my god! I don’t think there is an option there. I don’t see a possibility of MI leaving Rohit. I will give that zero or 0.1 per cent chance,” de Villiers said.
The former South Africa skipper added that his childhood friend Faf du Plessis might continue playing and leading RCB even though he is at the fag end of his career.
“Age is just a number, guys. I don’t see why his turning 40 would be an issue. He has been there for a few seasons and the players are used to him. I understand there has been pressure on him because he hasn’t won the trophy for RCB, but he has been exceptional as a player,” de Villiers said.
