The best spooky escape rooms in the Portland Metro, according to Yelp

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- With spooky season now upon us, there are some who might be looking for a good haunted house experience.

But for those who also love a brain teaser, riddle or puzzle used to solve a mystery in an immersive environment, an escape room may be just the thing.

So which ones are the best, according to Yelp reviews? KOIN searched the category of "Escape Games" in Portland and compiled the list of the most highly-rated escape game companies which boast a spooky and/or horror-themed room.

1. Escapism Portland - Malice Manor

2 to 10 players
Difficulty: Challenging
10340 NE Weidler St Portland, OR 97220

Players are tasked with unraveling the mysteries of the cursed Randle family, whose bloodline came to an untimely end nearly a hundred years before. According to Escapism, the room brings truth to the phrase, "Secrets can be hidden, but never destroyed."

Who knows? You may even experience a personal haunting by a soul who remains trapped in the home.

2. Escape Games PDX - Tales from the Attic

2 to 8 players
Difficulty: Challenging
2636 NW 26th Avenue Suite 2, Portland OR, 97210

Players become paranormal investigators at Knoll House, a place known for "laughter in the walls, black paint dripping from the ceiling, a man who weeps in the phone at midnight, and always, that strange light in the attic." Additionally, to finish the room, Escape Games says you have to "type the end of the story yourself."

Additionally, while Escape Games says this may not be a "horror room," per se, it still maintains the creepy factor, with maybe a jump scare or two.

3. Hour to Midnight - House of Darkness

4 to 6 players
Difficulty: Moderate
11525 NE Halsey Street, Portland, OR 97220

Described as part escape room and part haunted house, players are tasked with discovering the fate of Arthur Holmwood, who disappeared after exploring some old ruins near his home. According to the company's site, "Only the brave should tackle this one!"

4. Portal Adventures - Tomb of the Gods

4 to 10 players
Difficulty: Moderate
597 SW 150th Ave. Suite 140, Beaverton, OR 97006

Players venture into a network of Aztec ruins in the jungles of the Yucatan to find a legendary relic, the Gilded Skull of Temachtiani. But since this lies on a sacred burial ground, Portal Adventures cautions, "Tread carefully and beware… a tomb is no place for the living."
