Adidas Made the Perfect Halloween Sneakers for ‘The Simpsons’ Fans
“The Simpsons” and Adidas will soon continue their ongoing partnership with a new sneaker release that’s perfectly suited for spooky season.
Set to release mid-October is a The Simpsons x Adidas Rivalry Low in a “Werewolf Flanders” colorway. Using a rather obscure moment from the show for its backstory, the pair gets its inspiration from the 1999 Halloween episode of the series — better known to fans as “Treehouse of Horror X.”
In the show’s first part, dubbed “I Know What You Diddily-Iddly-Did,” the titular characters encounter neighbor Ned Flanders only to find out he’s been turned into a werewolf. Parodying tropes from the 1997 horror film “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” the ’99 episode was the last fans saw of Werewolf Flanders — until now.
The Simpsons x Adidas Rivalry Low “Werewolf Flanders” goes all-in on its theme, using Ned Flanders’ typical green sweater and pink button-up shirt look for coloring and adding a fur-like brown material throughout the shoe. And if the shoe’s design isn’t obvious enough for diehard fans of the show, there are a heap of accessories included including enamel pins and a poster of the episode’s title card.
The partnership between “The Simpsons” and Adidas began in February 2021 with the launch of a “Krusty Burger” ZX 10000 as part of the sportswear brand’s A-ZX collaboration series. Since then, there have been numerous The Simpsons x Adidas shoes including sneakers, slides and even football cleats.
Popular styles have included a Superstar covered in Marge Simpson’s iconic blue hairdo and a Stan Smith depicting the internet-favorite Homer Simpson bush meme. The collaboration has also previously featured Ned Flanders-focused sneakers.
Readers looking to add this The Simpsons x Adidas Rivalry Low “Werewolf Flanders” to their collection ahead of Halloween will have plenty of time as the pair is set to be released Oct. 15 for a retail price of $130. It will be available from adidas.com and select retailers.
