2024 Austin Heart Walk: How to sign up or donate

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The 2024 Austin Heart and Stroke Walk will happen on Oct. 27 at the Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Park in downtown Austin.

The event opens at 8 a.m., followed by a 9 a.m. ceremony. The walk then officially kicks off at 9:15 a.m.

You can sign up or donate online now. There is no cost to participate but registering beforehand is encouraged, according to the American Heart Association.

Austin's event aims to raise $900,000 to support heart research and heart-healthy lifestyle programming. Funds also go toward CPR and AED education.

As of Oct. 7, about three weeks before the walk, the donation total sat just under $330,000.

The Heart and Stroke Walk occurs in more than 1,000 cities every year, including Austin.

The event also celebrates and honors those who have survived a heart attack, cardiac arrest, heart surgery or stroke.
