Vinesh Phogat wins from Julana: Know all about Indian wrestler’s net worth, lavish Rs 20000000 home, luxury cars and more

Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat suffered a heartbreak at the Paris Olympics 2024 when a mere 100gms of extra weight cost her a sure-shot Olympics medal. But the 30-year-old bounced back with a win on her debut in politics – defeating BJP candidate Yogesh Kumar to clinch the Julana constituency seat in the Haryana Assembly Elections 2024.

Vinesh hails from the famous ‘Phogat’ family of Haryana, who have been immortalised on the silver screen with Aamir Khan’s superhit Bollywood movie ‘Dangal’. Born in Charkhi Dadri on August 25, 1994, Vinesh’s father – Rajpal Phogat – as well as her cousins Geeta Phogat and Babita Phogat are all established wrestlers.

The Congress candidate made her political debut after the heartbreak of the Paris Olympics. Vinesh had stormed into the 50kg women’s freestyle final but was found 100gms overweight on the second day of weigh-in and subsequently disqualified from the event. She would have brought home at least a silver medal if she was allowed to compete in final.

Vinesh Phogat’s career achievements

She may have missed out on an Olympics medal in her career but there is no doubting her wrestling pedigree. Vinesh won the Commonwealth Games gold medal in 2014, 2018 and 2022. She also won the 2018 Asian Games gold medal and bronze medal in the 2014 Asian Games.

In the World wrestling championships, Vinesh had won the bronze medals in 2019 and 2022 editions.

What is Vinesh Phogat’s net worth?

The Indian wrestler had a reported net worth of around Rs 5 crore before the Paris Olympics, according to media reports before the Haryana Elections. After the Games, this soared to close to Rs 36.5 crore thanks to the spate of endorsements that the Indian wrestler signed up.

She receives annual salary of around Rs 6 lakh (Rs 50,000 per month) from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for being an active wrestler. She may have to give up this amount if she decides to quit professional wrestling.
