Two die in traffic accidents
Two men, aged 79 and 31, died as the result of separate traffic accidents on Tuesday.
The first one, Tryfonas Papachristoforou from Larnaca, died in the morning after a fatal collision in Larnaca.
According to police, the accident occurred at around 9am when a 42-year-old man driving a cement mixer on Griva Digeni avenue hit the elderly man as he was attempting to cross the road.
Papachristoforou was seriously injured and taken to Larnaca general hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at around 11.30am.
Larnaca traffic police are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
Meanwhile, 31-year-old Constantinos Hadjimichael died at Nicosia general hospital, where he had been receiving treatment following a traffic accident on September 27 in Peristerona.
The accident occurred on the Nicosia-Troodos road when, under circumstances still under investigation, his motorcycle collided with a car driven by a 63-year-old man.
Police arrived at the scene, and Hadjimichael was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He remained in the intensive care unit until his death.
