Aqara Expands Lineup With Lever Smart Lock

Aqara has announced the release of its first lever lock, the Smart Lock U300, offering an update to traditional non-deadbolt locks by replacing levers and knobs on single-bore doors. The U300 integrates additional security and convenience throughout the home from side and garage doors to home offices, basements, and storage rooms, allowing homeowners to utilize smart controls at more access points in their residences.

Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, the outer panel of the weather-resistant lock is IPX4 rated, able to withstand extreme cold and heat between -22° F and 131° F. The Aqara U300 also boasts versatile access options like fingerprint recognition, personalized passwords (one-time and recurring), mobile apps, voice assistants, and Aqara NFC cards. Mechanical keys are provided for emergencies like power outages or electronic malfunctions.

Built upon the latest Thread protocol, the Smart Lock U300 is natively Matter enabled, ensuring seamless integration with Aqara’s lineup of smart home devices and those from a wide range of third-party brands. Connecting to a Thread Border Router, the U300 can be used with and managed by any Matter-compatible platform including Alexa, Apple Home, Google Home, Home Assistant, and SmartThings with a corresponding Matter Controller.

Additionally, the U300 is among the first smart lever locks to support Apple home key unlocking, which allows iOS users to simply tap their iPhone or Apple Watch to enter, even when the Apple device is out of power. For added flexibility, the U300 also offers a Passage Mode that enables hassle-free entry and exit, perfect for events like parties, furniture moves, or providing additional access to outsiders in commercial settings. The Passage Mode can be activated and deactivated locally on the lock without using a mobile app.

The U300 smart lock offers an impressive battery life of up to 10 months between changes and comes in black, with a silver option arriving in Q4 of 2024.
