Tottenham player is reportedly thriving out on loan this season – ‘Back to his best’
It has been suggested by Estadio Deportivo that Bryan Gil is now well and truly back to his best following his loan move to Girona in the summer.
Gil harshly treated by Spurs
Gil had good reason to feel hard done by at Tottenham as he never got a run in the side under Nuno Espirito Santo, Antonio Conte or Ange Postecoglou.
The winger impressed in the few opportunities he got last season but he was once again back on the bench once Tottenham starters recovered from injury.
His Spurs nightmare came to an end this summer as he completed a loan move to Girona, with a £12.5m release clause added to the 23-year-old’s contract, which will become active next summer (Fabrizio Romano).
Gil thriving back in Spain
Estadio Deportivo have now suggested that Gil is once again delivering the sort of performance that led to him being recognised as one of the best young talents in Spain a few years ago.
The outlet says that the winger is ‘back to his best’ after enduring a tough time in London and now fully has the trust of his manager Michel.
The report points out that the attacker’s performances this season have not gone unnoticed by Spain’s boss Luis de la Fuente, who recalled him to the La Roja set-up.
Withdraws from squad with injury
Gil’s return to the Spain set-up did not go according to plan. The on-loan Tottenham man would have been keen to impress in the upcoming Nations League clashes against Denmark and Serbia.
However, it was confirmed by the Spanish FA on Monday that the winger had withdrawn from the squad and returned to Girona after feeling some discomfort.
