Yellow card update: How close Spurs players are to getting a suspension
One key Tottenham Hotspur man is now two yellow cards away from serving a one-match suspension.
Premier League’s suspension rules
According to the rules, players who pick up five yellow cards in the first half of the season will be suspended for one Premier League game.
That means that anyone who reaches that tally before gameweek 19 will have to sit out one match, and one Tottenham man is in danger of doing just that.
Spurs man two cards away
According to the Premier League’s official website, Rodrigo Bentancur has now picked up three yellow cards over the course of the season.
That means that if the Uruguayan picks up another two yellow cards over the next 12 league games, he will be suspended for a match.
Meanwhile, fellow midfielders Dejan Kulusevski and Yves Bissouma have two cards each to their name at the moment.
Bentancur’s impending suspension?
It is not just yellow cards that Bentancur has to worry about as the midfielder also runs the risk of being handed a long-term ban following the FA’s recent charge against him.
The 26-year-old was charged by the FA with an “aggravated breach” of its rules for the comments he made about Spurs teammate, Heung-min Son, back in the summer.
According to reports, the former Juventus man could be suspended for six to 12 matches if the charge against him is upheld (Football.London).
