Meet the candidates for Topeka's next Police Chief, here's when

TOPEKA (KSNT) - The City of Topeka could name its new police chief next month.

A City of Topeka clerk announced during Tuesday's city council meeting a public meet-and-greet with the candidates for the chief of the Topeka Police Department (TPD). This opportunity for residents to meet the possible next Chief of Police will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6 in the Emerald Ballroom at the Hotel Topeka.

Topeka City Manager Robert Perez has called a special meeting at 6 p.m. on Nov. 7 to discuss the Police Chief candidates, with the hopes to choose the next leader of TPD.

Deputy Police Chief Jamey Haltom has been serving as the Interim Police Chief since June. He is filling in until the city finds a replacement for former Police Chief Bryan Wheeles, who retired this summer.
