ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Happy Tuesday! Meteorologist Matt Mackie says this Tuesday will be very fall-like with temperatures in the low 60s and breezy with a mix of sun and clouds and perhaps some scattered showers.

Hurricane Milton has been downgraded to a Category 4 hurricane, but it is still dangerous to Florida. Also, the Albany school zone speed cameras have started issuing tickets to speeders, rather than just warnings. These stories, and more, are in your five things to know this Tuesday.

1. Milton dips to Category 4 as Florida braces for impact

Florida’s Gulf Coast braced Tuesday for the impact of Hurricane Milton’s winds and expected massive storm surge, which could bring destruction to areas already reeling from Helene’s devastation 12 days ago and still recovering from Ian’s wrath two years ago.

2. Albany school zone cameras to start ticketing speeders

Albany’s first school zone speed cameras were activated on September 6 to enforce the 20 miles per hour speed limit. For the first 30 days, the cameras were only giving warnings, but as of Monday, the cameras will begin issuing tickets in school zones.

3. ‘Spirit Christmas’: Spirit Halloween is now opening Xmas-themed locations

How foolish of us to assume they’d stop at Halloween. Spencer’s Spirit Holdings, the parent company of Spirit Halloween, has announced plans to open 10 locations of its seasonal Spirit Christmas locations, to sell gifts and decorations ahead of the holidays.

4. Albany Co. 2025 proposed budget details property tax decrease

In an announcement about the proposed Albany County 2025 Executive Budget, county officials said the budget includes a 3% increase, totaling $847 million compared to the 2024 adopted budget of $822 million. Residents can expect property tax rates to decrease slightly and investment in economic and workforce development in 2025.

5. Schenectady burger joint permanently closes

Dave’s Gourmet Burgers and More, located at 16 Edison Avenue in Schenectady, has permanently closed its doors. The restaurant made the announcement on its Facebook page on October 5.
