WATCH: LUS power station using fire to clear gas line
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- If you go by the "Doc" Bonin Power Plant in Lafayette and see a fire, do not be alarmed.
According to a post on LUS's Facebook page, an LUS contractor is conducting a gas flaring event at the plant on Walker Road on Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday.
The flaring, during daylight hours only, is to remove gas from the pipeline in order to perform scheduled maintenance, officials said.
The station, located at 1120 Walker Road, stopped generating electricity in 2013 and is currently used as an operations center for LUS.
