Alpinestars Reissues Legacy Shoe Made From Repurposed MotoGP Leather Suits

Alpinestars has announced a reissue of its first-ever sneaker, the Legacy Shoe, launching online on Oct. 9 as part of Alpinestars RSVR’s Momentum Capsule. This follows the brand’s first sold-out drop from the capsule.

The company says the sneaker “merges motorsport-inspired aesthetics with luxury streetwear design.” Offered in limited quantities, every shoe is handcrafted by artisans in Italy from crashed MotoGP leather suits, which speaks to the brand’s dedication to quality, sustainability and exclusivity. Available in blue and white in addition to red and white, the Legacy Shoe is a high top lace-up sneaker featuring original patina and markings from the racetrack. Both colorways retail for $1,200.

The motorsport company describes the process of keeping the suits useful: “Alpinestars meticulously recollects and repurposes leather suits from MotoGP races, studying their data and repairing them when possible. Those deemed no longer safe for racing are transformed into exclusive sneakers, preserving a piece of racing history.”

“Our initial launch demonstrated the undeniable demand for our Legacy Shoe, and we are thrilled to reintroduce it due to popular request,” said Denise Focil, head of collaborations and CEO of RSRV at Alpinestars. “Each sneaker tells a story, bearing unique marks from racetracks worldwide. This re-issue ensures that those who missed out previously now have another chance to own a true collectible.”

Alpinestars also creates apparel that’s proved popular on the celebrity circuit. In 2023, Kim Kardashian wore a jacket from the brand and paired it with Balenciaga boots; also last year, Ciara wore a colorful jersey with Nike boxing boots.
