Billy Savage – the son of headmaster Steve Savage (Jason Manford) – had been bullied relentlessly by Schuey for weeks.

However, things took a dark turn when Billy decided to take revenge after being encouraged by his dad to ‘stand up for himself’ when he wouldn’t say who was bullying him.

The character, played by Olly Rhodes, had spotted Schuey and his pal Boz stealing another pupil’s bike and pretended he didn’t see who the thieves were.

He later told Schuey because he covered up for him, he should be left alone – but the bully ended up roping him into the nasty scheme.

After getting advice from Boz, Billy hitched a plan to catch Schuey on the towpath when he collects his bike in the evening.

He stole wire and tape from a maintenance cupboard and set up his trap just before a hooded figure arrived for the bike.

As the mystery person was sent flying from their bike, Billy quickly checked on them.

However, the lifeless body turned out to be Boz – as Schuey went to see his sister Portia at her foster family’s home.

By the time Billy called his dad for help it was too late and Boz had died from his injuries.

Steve initially planned to call the police but after realising the premeditated plan and the fact Billy’s fingerprints were all over the scene, he ordered him into the car.

In harrowing Waterloo Road scenes the headteacher then disposed of Boz’s body in the canal before taking his son home.

Waterloo Road airs on BBC One and iPlayer.
