Kawamitsu to defend  Japanese title in December

Earlier today we saw the announcement that Japanese Light Flyweight champion Toshiki Kawamitsu (10-1, 6) [川満俊輝] would be back in the ring on on December 10th to make his second defense of the Japanese title, as he takes on the dangerous Natsu Ohashi (8-3-1, 6) [大橋波月 ], at Korakuen Hall on a Diamond Glove show.

The exciting champion , who's only loss came in 2021 to Ginjiro Shigeoka, is riding a 4 fight winning streak which has seen him defeat visitors Sitthisak Simsri and Melvin Mananquil, as well as winning the Japanese title last year, when he stopped tough veteran Toshimasa Ouchi, with his first defense coming in May, when he broke down Kosuke Ando.

Ohashi on the other hand is much less well known, and only came back from a lengthy break from the ring last year, but is a very lively challenger. He began his career in 2016 and was stopped in 2 of his first 5 bouts, and was once 5-3-1, but has since gone on a good 3 fight winning streak since returning after a 4 year break, including a win in Vietnam back in January and a win over the previously unbeaten Ryusho Matsue last time out. Aged 26 he's coming into his prime and should be considered a dangerous challenger despite his underwhelming record, though he also the clear under-dog.

Also set for this show is a match between former Japanese Featherweight champion Ryo Sagawa (12-4, 7) [佐川遼] and hard hitting Filipino veteran Jon Jon Estrada (18-13-1, 14), both of who are needing a win after recent setbacks. And there is also a Japanese Youth title fight Taishin Isotani (7-3, 5) [磯谷大心] and  Taiga Kato (6-2, 2) [加藤大河], who battle for the vacant Japanese Youth Welterweight title.
