Linus Ullmark Signs Jeremy Swayman-Like Extension With Senators
Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman might not be hugging it out anymore, but they’re still finding ways to stay connected.
Ullmark and the Ottawa Senators agreed to a four-year contract extension with an average annual value of $8.25 million on Wednesday.
It’s no surprise if you’re thinking that second number sounds familiar because that’s the same average annual value that Swayman agreed to with the Boston Bruins in his contract extension that was inked Sunday.
Swayman, 25, received $66 million in total money. Ullmark, 31, received $33 million in total money.
The Bruins had an opportunity to keep both under contract entering this past offseason but felt it was best to head in a more youthful direction and trade away Ullmark for goaltender Joonas Korpisalo, forward Mark Kastelic and a first-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft. Ullmark was previously slated to make $5 million in 2024-25.
Ullmark is scheduled to make his Senators debut on Thursday night when the club hosts the Florida Panthers at Canadian Tire Centre and will return to TD Garden on Nov. 9.
