What happened against Brighton?

Tottenham looked to be back at their Ange-ball best in the first half against Brighton, playing with a swagger and a clinical cutting edge.

After goals from Brennan Johnson and James Maddison put them 2-0 up at half-time, even the most pessimistic of Spurs supporter would have been expecting a comfortable win.

Unfortunately, the Tottenham faithful were forced to watch an 18-minute Lilywhite collapse in the second half, handing Brighton three goals from the jaws of victory.

It left Micky Van de Ven feeling sick

Micky Van de Ven, who has a torrid time of it on the left side of Tottenham’s defence in the second half, has now opened up on that sickening feeling of defeat.

The speedy centre-half said the loss left him feeling ill heading into the international break, but he believes Tottenham are playing well and picking up points better at the moment.

He told ESPN (as relayed by De Telegraaf): “With a good feeling. I’m fit. The only downer was the match before.

“Things are going well and I think that with Tottenham as a team, we are also playing well and earning more points than we actually have now. I play my matches and do my thing.

“I was quite ill from that. As a team, we had a fantastic first half, led 2-0, but in the end, you lost 3-2. I did speak to Bart (Verbruggen) immediately after the match. He saw that I was very ill from it. Then he is not the person to irritate you with that.”

Van de Ven in action with Netherlands

Micky Van de Ven is currently on international duty with the Netherlands ahead of their Nations League double-header this week.

The Oranje are set to face off against Hungary on Friday, October 11th, followed by a match against Germany on Monday, October 14th.
