Few legends of the club will ever reach the heights of five-time Champions League winner, Gareth Bale, but one Spanish newspaper thinks Spurs may have found their new candidate.

Gareth Bale – Tottenham legend

Gareth Bale started his career at Southampton but burst onto the scene at Tottenham Hotspur under the Champions League lights against Inter Milan.

Every Spurs fan remembers where they were the night Bale dismantled the career of Maicon – who was rated as one of the very best right-backs in the game at the time.

Although Bale eventually left for pastures new in sunny Spain, winning five Champions League titles with Real Madrid, he is still considered a Tottenham Hotspur legend.

The next Gareth Bale?

Spanish newspaper, SPORT (via SportWitness), claim that Tottenham may have just found their new Gareth Bale in fellow Welsh Wizard, Brennan Johnson.

The article describes Johnson as ‘another Bale’ and ‘one of the best wingers in the Premier League’. They add that Brennan is ‘making a name for himself’ and is even on his way to ‘becoming one of the best in the world.’

Considering Bale managed 185 career goals, 132 assists, and one of the most impressive trophy cabinets in history (TransferMarkt), Johnson certainly has a way to go before living up to such comparisons.

Six in six games for Johnson

Brennan Johnson now has six goals in six goals for Spurs, scoring in the Carabao Cup, Europa League and Premier League over the past two months.

The last player to record those numbers for Tottenham was, unsurprisingly, Harry Kane – so Brennan is certainly keeping good company in a Lilywhite shirt.
