Saratoga Co. offering extended hours for Passport Night
BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The Saratoga County Clerk's Office is hosting an event for residents needing a passport but can't make it to the office during regular business hours. Passport Night is Thursday, Oct. 24, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the clerk's office on McMaster Street.
Anyone interested in getting a passport should bring an original or certified copy of a birth certificate and photo ID to the event. Additionally, applicants must bring a money order or check made out to the Department of State to pay for the $130 application. A separate check or cash is needed for processing fees, as well as a passport photo.
Passport processing takes approximately six to eight weeks, but applicants can expedite their passports for an additional $60. Applicants looking to renew a previously issued 10-year passport need to mail it, and a required new photo can be taken at the clerk's office.
The Department of State website offers access to downloadable copies of passport applications. Anyone with questions about passports or the application process can call the Saratoga County Clerk's Office at (518) 885-2213.
