In her viral video, TikTok user Rachael Eppley (@hey.im.rach) revealed the technique she uses to tackle spiders.

She shared the exact product she uses to keep her space free of creepy crawlies.

“This has changed my life,” the TikToker told her followers.

She rated the pest control method a 10 out of 10.

Rachael explained that she uses an alcohol spray when she sees any pests in her home.

“Isopropyl alcohol will kill spiders, mosquitoes, dust mites, fleas,” she said.

You can pick up a one litre bottle of Isopropyl alcohol for just £4.99 from Amazon.

The strong scent of rubbing alcohol is a proven deterrent for spiders and insects.

Given their sensitive smell receptors, they find the solution to be overwhelming and off-putting.

Exposing spiders to a large amount of the solution can dehydrate them and cause motor dysfunction.

However, for the alcohol to be sufficiently effective you need to spray it directly on the pests or expose them to it for a prolonged period of time.

Otherwise, the solution is not likely to harm or kill the pests at all.

Experts recommend being cautious when using the solution in homes with pets.

TikTok users shared their thoughts on the advice in the comments section.

“My dad didn’t teach me that and he’s a pest control tech,” wrote one viewer.

Everything you need to know about spiders

“Alright, I’m going to the store right now,” said another follower.

“[I] need it because spiders like my room, there’s a lot of dark places,” commented a third person.

“It’s also great for cleaning! Mirrors, windows, sinks,” suggested another TikTok user.

“Thank you for letting us save this!! I need it where I am, oh my God, life saver!!” wrote one commenter.

“I figured this out one day when there was a bug in my room and the only thing that saved me was my perfume,” said another viewer.

One TikTok user described the hack as “better than using a vacuum.”
