Off the line: Festive season sales see a slow start

Smartphone sales dropped by 3% in the first 12 days of festive sales this year. Premium handsets and consumer electronics showed moderate growth. E-commerce platforms saw slow demand initially but it picked up from Navratri onwards. Apparel sales rose by 6-8% by value. Brands are hopeful for better demand by Diwali.
