BBC weather app ‘forecasts 14,408mph winds and 404°C temperatures’
BBC Weather app users woke up to some wild weather this morning – hurricane force winds and temperatures of 404°C.
Forecasters were left scrambling after ‘data issues’ shared the wild weather claims, including one with reports of 14,408mph winds.
Simon King, the lead BBC weather presenter, wrote on X: ‘Oops, don’t be alarmed by some of our weather data this morning.
‘Be assured there won’t be 14,408mph winds, hurricane force winds or overnight temperatures of 404°C.’
One social media user joked he thought he had woken up in Florida rather than the UK.
Tim Bracey wrote: ‘It maybe seen as a joke (in poor taste) but we expect the BBC to provide correct information!’
