WATCH: Riyan Parag’s bizarre no-ball from outside the pitch against Bangladesh in second T20I

New Delhi: Team India all-rounder Riyan Parag attempted an unconventional delivery while bowling against Bangladesh in the second T20I on Wednesday, October 9, but it resulted in a no-ball. This incident occurred during the 11th over of Bangladesh’s innings when Mahmudullah and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were at the crease with Bangladesh at 78/4.

After conceding eight runs off the first three deliveries, Riyan Parag attempted a slingy action, bowling from behind the umpire on the fourth ball of the over.

The umpire immediately called it a back-foot no-ball, awarding a free hit to the batter. Fortunately for the hosts, it didn’t prove costly, as only a single run came off the free hit. Riyan Parag finished the over strongly by dismissing Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

After being put in to bat first, India recovered from a top-order collapse at 41/3 to post a formidable total of 221/9 in the first innings. Nitish Kumar Reddy (74), Rinku Singh (53), and Hardik Pandya (32) played pivotal roles for the hosts, while other batters made minor but useful contributions.

The second innings was completely dominated by India, as Bangladesh struggled to chase down the target of 222. After collapsing to 46/4 within 6.5 overs, the visitors never posed a serious threat and eventually managed to reach only 135/9 in 20 overs, losing the match by a convincing margin of 86 runs.

At the post-match presentation, India captain Suryakumar Yadav reflected on his team’s performance. “You can say that we were under pressure at 41/3 but I wanted the lower order to be tested in that situation. They batted the way I wanted them to. The message has been loud and clear. Go and express yourself. Do what you have done for your franchise and state team.”

“Only the jersey changes, nothing else. It was about testing what these guys can do. Can they give me one or two overs? It was Nitish Kumar Reddy’s day, so I gave him the new ball and told him to go there and make it large,” he added.

Hyderabad will host the third and final T20I of the series on October 12.
