Harris accepts invite to CNN town hall as another Trump debate appears unlikely

Vice President Harris has accepted an invitation from CNN to participate in a town hall on the network a week before Election Day, as it appears unlikely that former President Trump will agree to a second debate with her.

"Trump may want to hide from the voters, but Vice President Harris welcomes the opportunity to share her vision for a New Way Forward for the country," Harris campaign Chair Jen O'Malley Dillon said in a statement Thursday. "This will be a unique opportunity for voters to hear directly from the Vice President on her commitment to be a President for all Americans and her plans to lower families’ costs, protect our freedoms including reproductive freedom, and keep us safe and secure."

The live event will be held Oct. 23 and broadcast from Pennsylvania. CNN has not announced a moderator or other details of the event.

News of the town hall comes as Harris has been pressuring Trump to participate in another debate before Election Day, previously accepting an invitation from CNN to show up for a debate on Oct. 23.

Trump on Wednesday appeared to shut the door on the possibility of debating Harris again, saying, “It is very late in the process, voting has already begun – there will be no rematch!”

CNN has also reportedly invited Trump to participate in a town hall on the network, and The Hill has reached out the the Trump campaign for comment.
