No victory for 2 years: Pakistan continue winless Test streak at home with loss to England in Multan
The Men in Green slumped to a defeat by an innings and 47 runs in the first Test against England in Multan. This defeat only helped Pakistan in claiming several unwanted records and stretch their winless streak at home in Test matches.
Since 2022, Pakistan haven’t managed to win a single Test match at home. They have so far played 10 Tests in 2 years and have been defeated on 6 occasions while they have ended up drawing on the other 4 occasions. They are the only team among the other 8 Test playing nations who haven’t managed to win a single Test at home for 2 years.
The heavy loss to England also saw Pakistan drop to the bottom-last place on the World Test Championship (WTC) points table, with only 2 wins out of 8 matches in the ongoing WTC cycle. This poor form has seen them accumulate a total of only 16 points so far.
Moreover, Pakistan skipper Shan Masood who took the role back in November, 2023, is yet to win his first Test as captain.
The second Test match of the series between Pakistan and England will again be played in Multan and will commence from October 15.
