After the Buzzer – Vernon Vipers Secure First Win of the Season with 6-3 Victory Over West Kelowna Warriors

Vernon, BC:   The Vernon Vipers found their way into the win column for the first time this season, defeating the West Kelowna Warriors 6-3 in a decisive effort.

Landon MacDonald had a standout performance, leading the offensive charge with his first BCHL goal while adding three assists. Shea Busch contributed a pair of goals, including a key shorthanded tally to open the scoring. George Stavrianeas, Lukas McCloskey, and Keeghan Dunn also found the back of the net, showcasing a well-rounded attack. A total of six other Vipers chipped in with assists, highlighting a true team effort.

In net, Marko Bilic was solid, turning aside 24 of the 27 shots he faced to earn his first career BCHL win.

Special teams were a deciding factor in the game. The Vipers capitalized on one of their three power play opportunities, while shutting down all four of West Kelowna’s man-advantage chances. Adding to their dominance on special teams, Vernon also notched a shorthanded goal.

For the Warriors, Callum Hughes, Laz Giardina, and Jack Farrell each scored, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Vipers. Goaltender Dawson Labre made 26 saves on 31 shots in the loss.

The Vipers will now turn their attention to the BCHL Showcase in Abbotsford, where they will face off against the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Sunday afternoon at 1 PM.
