I auditioned for Big Brother 2024 – we were pitted against each other with gruelling face to face noms

BIG Brother’s back with a bang after a week of tears, tantrums and tough decisions for its new set of housemates.

But what fans might not realise is they’ve already been put through their paces before even entering the door.

Potential stars are put through a gruelling audition process in order to make the cut.

Our insider reveals fake face to face nominations and a grilling about their celebrity mates helped bosses decide who makes it into the famous house.

The would-be housemate tells how the three-hour in-person auditions are held over two days in Manchester and London with three sets of 12 applicants.

Our insider – whose identity we have chosen to keep anonymous – has described the experience of making it to the final round.

“Big Brother’s audition process is cut-throat and competitive”, our reporter said.

“As soon as I got into the room with 11 other potential housemates, there was a nervous energy that had everyone on edge.

“Everyone who’s there is there to win. The elbows were out.

“Out of the 12 of us, three had been approached by producers and urged to apply.

“So although you’d expect there to be a cross section of society, there’s definitely an element of tactical casting.

“With me, they were fascinated by my background in the political sphere.

“They kept asking about my interactions with Liz Truss, Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage.

“The producers were desperate to hear titbits – and were salivating at the idea of me being able to dish the dirt on famous faces inside the house.”

The would-be housemates are given tasks to complete – just like they would on the show.

They’re also surprised by face to face nominations – leaving one person to be told they’re out the competition after failing to impress.

Big Brother 2024 cast

A brand new batch of Big Brother housemates are living it up in the famous compound.

Meet the cast of the 2024 series:

  • Emma, 53, aesthetics business owner from Altrincham.
  • Segun, 25, charity videographer from Watford.
  • Nathan, 24, pork salesman from Dumfries.
  • Daze, 24, climate activist from London.
  • Khaled, 23, sales manager from Manchester.
  • Martha, 26, NHS administrator from Scarborough.
  • Lily, 20, Chinese takeaway server from Warrington.
  • Ali, 30, Forensic psychologist from London.
  • Thomas, 20 amputee footballer from Carlisle.
  • Ryan, 28, marketing and events from Stockport.
  • Hannah, 24, HR consultant from West London.
  • Izaaz, 29, sales consultant from London.
  • Sarah, 27, spa account manager from Shrewsbury.
  • Marcello, 34, youth mentor from East London.
  • Dean, 35, barber from East London

“Everyone has to nominate one person and then whoever gets the most nominations is sent outside.

“However, it’s actually just a prank. The producers come running out and get you to come back.

“It’s all about a test of character and attitude – to see how you’ll react, if you’ll fly off the handle.”

Once the audition process is finished, all six producers who have been judging the contenders leave the room for 20 minutes to deliberate.

“It’s a yes or no on the day.

“The person lucky enough to have made it through is announced in front of everyone.

“That’s why you could hear some of the housemates on launch night saying ‘oh hi again’ – it’s because they’ve already met during the auditions.

“Although disappointed, many left feeling upbeat having been encouraged by producers to try again next year.

“One even mentioned Alison Hammond – admitting she went for it countless times before finally being selected.”
