Christopher Meloni Attends Global Lyme Alliance Gala with Wife Sherman, Explains Why the Cause Is So Important to Him

Christopher Meloni and his longtime love Sherman stepped out for an important cause this past week.

The 63-year-old Law & Order actor was the featured speaker at the Global Lyme Alliance Gala on Wednesday (October 9) in New York City.

Christopher was joined on stage by actor Erich Bergen, who auctioned off a meet-and-greet at a performance of his upcoming musical BOOP! The Betty Boop Musical when it arrives on Broadway next year.

“I’m passionate about the Global Lyme Alliance,” Chris told Us Weekly. “As an ambassador for GLA, I’ve led a group of Lyme disease advocates on a trip to Capitol Hill to advocate for increased funding for Lyme disease treatments and diagnostics. Lyme disease has brought a depth of pain and turmoil to my family’s lives that I never could have dreamt of, but that pain required from us all an equal response back: you deal with what you have to deal with, and then fight back with everything you have. I want everyone to know just how insidious Lyme disease is and how little is known about it.”

The Global Lyme Alliance mission is to cure Lyme and other tick-borne diseases through innovative research, awareness, and empowering the patient voice.
