Schenectady police investigate shooting, homicide
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Schenectady Police are investigating a shooting and homicide at a home on Congress Street late Saturday night. Police said a 15-year-old died at the hospital from his injuries, and a 13-year-old girl is in stable condition after receiving treatment.
Police said they received reports of shots fired at the 1100 block of Congress Street around 11:20 p.m. When police arrived on the scene, they said a large crowd of people fled on foot, and they found the 15-year-old with a gunshot wound to the torso in the backyard of 1122 Congress St.
Police found the second victim several blocks away on Chrisler Avenue with a gunshot wound around her head and neck. The Schenectady Fire Department treated both victims before they were transported to local hospitals.
Police said a preliminary investigation found the victims and several other teens were attending a party at 1122 Congress St. when the suspect or suspects began shooting. Schenectady Police added that no one is in custody, and they are working with New York State Police on the investigation.
