Premier League boss tipped to replace Postecoglou at Spurs under one condition
According to reports, Eddie Howe could be targeted by Tottenham Hotspur to replace Ange Postecoglou under one condition.
Potential Tottenham takeover
It has been widely reported over recent weeks that Amanda Staveley, who formerly owned a stake in Newcastle United, has put together a team of investors who are keen on buying around a 25 per cent stake in Tottenham.
The North London club are thought to be open to such an investment, with some outlets even suggesting that advanced talks have taken place between Staveley and Daniel Levy (Football Insider).
It has now been claimed that should the takeover go through, Staveley could look to raid the Magpies for manager, Eddie Howe.
Takeover bad news for Postecoglou?
The Sun are now reporting that Howe will ‘shoot up to the top of Tottenham’s managerial shortlist’ should the minority takeover be completed.
It is explained that the Newcastle boss has also been identified by England as a potential permanent successor to Gareth Southgate.
However, it is revealed that FA are not willing to pay the compensation required to get the Englishman out of St James’ Park.
Staveley is said to be a big fan of Howe and should her mega-rich backers buy into Spurs over the coming weeks, the former Bournemouth boss could be offered a chance to manage at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Levy wants to retain control
This report from The Sun completely ignores the fact that the talks between the parties are only regarding a minority investment into Spurs rather than a full takeover.
In fact, it has been widely reported that while Daniel Levy is actively seeking investment, he still wants to retain control of the club (TBR Football).
That means that the Spurs chairman will continue to call the shots on who is in place in the managerial hot seat, and Ange Postecoglou is going nowhere.
