St. Martin Parish Correction officer accused of divulging confidential information

ST. MARTIN PARISH, La. (KLFY) -A St. Martin Parish Correction officer is arrested in connection to an investigation.

St. Martin Parish Sheriff Becket Breaux said that in September 2024, Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Task Force, initiated an investigation following information received regarding a St. Martin Parish Correctional Officer suspected of divulging confidential information.

He says Deputies discovered that Caliyah Joseph, 22, St. Martinville, LA., was utilizing her position as a Sheriff’s Deputy to obtain information and unlawfully release it. She was also found to be involved in a narcotics distribution conspiracy where she was facilitating the sale of illegal narcotics.

On October 10, 2024, Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office obtained an arrest warrant for Caliyah Joseph. Following the execution of the warrant on October 11, 2024, she was arrested and subsequently booked into the Iberia Parish Jail on the following charges:

1 count LA R.S.-14:134 (a) Malfeasance in Office

1 count LA R.S.-14:26 Criminal Conspiracy to Distribute Schedule 1 and/or Schedule V CDS-(Felony)

Sheriff Breaux says Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office are sworn to uphold the law and are held to a higher standard. He says Joseph was immediately terminated from her employment with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office and charged accordingly.
