Liam Gallagher Blasts ‘SNL’ Skit Mocking Oasis Feud With Brother Noel
On Sunday night, Liam Gallagher took to X (formerly Twitter) to lambaste a parody of himself and brother Noel Gallagher on the most recent episode of Saturday Night Live.
The sketch aired during Oct. 12’s “Weekend Update” segment and featured cast members James Austin Johnson and Sarah Sherman as Noel and Liam, respectively. The bit, which received a rather tepid response from the studio audience, found the infamously feuding siblings finding common ground on seemingly benign topics such as their favorite Rugrat (Tommy Pickles) and Will Smith movie (I Am Legend).
In real life, tickets are already on sale for next summer’s Oasis reunion tour. But as SNL pointed out, there’s the possibility the Gallagher brothers might not be speaking by then. Perhaps it was all too close to the bone for Noel, who called the sketch “excruciating” when a fan asked his opinion. “Are they meant to be comedians?” he asked rhetorically in another comment.
When another user told Noel that SNL “did you dirty,” the musician responded: “I wouldn’t expect anything else from them.” It seems there’s no love lost between the iconic sketch show and Oasis, who haven’t performed on the show since 1997.
The Oasis reunion tour is set to take place from July 4 until Aug. 17, 2025, with dates in London, Edinburgh, Ireland, and the brothers’ hometown of Manchester. Tickets went on sale at the end of August.
"The guns have fallen silent," the band wrote in an Aug. 27 social media post. “The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised."
