Larnaca using influencers to promote tourism
The Larnaca Tourism Board (LTB) has been intensifying efforts to boost the region’s online presence through collaborations with high-profile influencers.
Recent initiatives aim to promote Larnaca to international audiences, highlighting its marine attractions and local culture.
One of the most notable partnerships involved Sophia Hadjipanteli, a globally recognised influencer with over 1.5 million followers.
As part of the ‘Ocean of Threads’ project, Hadjipanteli visited Larnaca to promote its marine life and raise awareness about environmental sustainability. The project, organised in collaboration with artist Michalis Pantelides and the department of fisheries and marine research, also included an underwater art exhibition at the LEF1 wreck in Larnaca’s marine protected area. The exhibition, open to divers, will run until the end of the year.
Hadjipanteli shared her experience on social media, calling Larnaca her “second home” and praising the area’s commitment to sustainability, clean beaches and rich marine life.
On November 7, TV personality Tonia Buxton will be the next celebrity to promote the region as part of the ‘2ndCY Food B2B Forum’.
The event, organised by LTB and the Larnaca chamber of commers, will focus on showcasing the town’s local gastronomy to a broader international audience.
LTB’s recent six-week online campaign, which targeted international markets, also achieved significant engagement.
Supported by the deputy ministry of tourism as part of the LTB annual action plan, the campaign reached more than 2.5 million people and generated over a million impressions. The campaign aimed to promote the region’s new tourism branding and key attractions.
