'It wasn't good': Witness reacts to apparent murder-suicide in Acadia Parish
ACADIA PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- Two people are dead after an apparent murder-suicide in Acadia Parish. Branch resident Austin Bellard says he was near the scene at the time it happened.
"A truck pulled up right across the street, happens all the time, literally every single day," Bellard said. "It wasn't a truck that I normally seen, but it didn't look out of place either, they pulled up and I heard a couple of gunshots, didn't really think anything of it."
Bellard said he heard the sound of gunshots coming from a truck that pulled up near an area by White Oak Highway. He said he rushed to the area to see what was going on, and what he found was disturbing.
"The man that owns the land came out here," Bellard said. "I went meet him before the cops showed up, and it was just me, him, and my dad out there. I don't really want to tell you what I saw. It wasn't good."
The identities of those involved have not yet been released. Bellard says his heart goes out to both families affected by this tragedy.
"I really feel bad for the parents, for both actually," he said. "I think I know, I can put two and two together about what happened, I just really feel for both people's pain."
The investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
