Lafayette native pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis proposes to girlfriend during Vogue photo shoot
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Armand “Mondo” Duplantis, a former Lafauette High student-athlete who won gold at the 2024 Olympics, proposed to his girlfriend during a photo shoot for Vogue Scandinavia.
Duplantis got down on one knee and proposed to Desiré Inglander while taking photos in The Hamptons. According to Vogue Scandinavia, the couple has been together for four years.
"When he first dropped to his knee, Inglander thought it was a bit for the purpose of our photoshoot. After all, the couple had already joked that they sort of resembled bride and groom in their looks. It wasn’t until he brought out the ring box that she realized what was happening," the magazine said in a social media post.
Duplantis and Vogue Scandinavia planned the proposal together, the magazine said.
Duplantis is a Swedish pole vaulter. According to the Olympics, he won his second gold medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics finishing with a height of 6.25. He won his first gold medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
In 2019 at LSU, he was the NCAA indoor pole vault champion, SEC indoor and outdoor champion, collegiate indoor and outdoor record holder, LSU indoor and outdoor record holder and a Swedish National Record Holder.
