CARDET: 20 years of innovation in empowering society through education

Today, October 15, 2024, CARDET Research Center celebrates 20 years of growth and innovation, having established itself as the leading independent, non-profit organization in Cyprus. Driven by its core values and a strong conviction in the education capacity to be a fundamental pillar of societal empowerment, the Center promotes innovative initiatives that create lasting impact both locally and internationally.

Leveraging the expertise of its team of experts, comprised by over 70 researchers and professionals, CARDET has implemented initiatives in more than 40 countries, positively engaging over three million people. Taking a systemic and evidence-based approach, CARDET supports education and training by developing cutting-edge tools and solutions that strengthen communities. Its work spans in diverse areas, including education, digital learning, human rights and social inclusion, health and well-being, and sustainable development and entrepreneurship.

Founded in 2004, CARDET has forged significant partnerships with leading organizations across Europe, America, and Asia, expanding its expertise and capacity to deliver impactful projects. Key collaborations include partnerships with Microsoft, the European Commission, and UNICEF. CARDET also maintains a Memorandum of Understanding with the Yale School of Public Health.

On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, CARDET’s Executive Director, Professor Charalambos Vrasidas, stated: “CARDET began with the vision of promoting education as a force for positive change. Twenty years later, I am proud that this vision has transformed into significant actions with a substantial positive impact. Our entire team looks forward to embracing new challenges and our next steps. Our goal remains to create learning opportunities and contribute to a better world for all. We will soon announce new partnerships and initiatives that will further enhance our societal impact.”

In celebration of its 20th anniversary, CARDET renews its commitment to continue pioneering and innovating in education and in furthering social progress. As part of this, CARDET is planning a series of volunteer actions and initiatives throughout 2024-2025 under the anniversary theme Twenty4Twenty to support the community.
