This Morning shock as Gregg Wallace’s MasterChef co-star John Torode makes ‘sexual comment’ to Cat Deeley live on air

THIS Morning viewers were left stunned today by chef John Torode’s “sexual comment” towards host Cat Deeley live on air.

During a cooking segment on ITV, regular John was making toad in the hole when he quipped: “I never thought I’d say to Cat Deeley, ‘Here’s a little sausage for you darling’.”

Cat, 47, made a face at the camera but wasn’t put off as she continued to present the live daytime show.

One furious viewer said:” Why is John Torode‘s co-star the bald one getting in trouble for sexual innuendos when he said today live on ITV with Cat Deeley.

“Make sure he is sacked as well.. women shouldn’t put up with these disgusting sexual comments any longer… !”

The celebrity chef was on This Morning to show viewers how to make the perfect toad in the hole.

The programme has long been known for its innuendos, with previous hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield famously falling into hysterics over cheeky comments while on air.

Following their off-screen fallout, the pair were replaced by Cat and Good Morning Britain’s Ben Shephard.

Dishing up the finished toad in the hole to the presenters today, John said: “I never thought again I’d be saying to Cat Deeley, ‘Here’s a little sausage for you darling’.”

Cat tapped him on the back and brushed off the remark, saying: “Oh I like it, thank you.”

The presenter then looked up at the camera and made a face to viewers.

Earlier John made another innuendo to Ben when describing the cooking process.

“Roll them out so they’re the right shape,” said John, before Ben added: “Right, so give them a zhuzh?”

He agreed, adding: “Yes, give them a zhuzh. I never thought I’d hear Ben Shephard ‘zhuzh your sausage’.”

Cat smirked: “That’s just the beginning John Torode.”

MasterChef facts

MASTERCHEF has been a staple BBC series for years - but what are the key details?

  • MasterChef launched on BBC One back in 1990
  • It ran until 2001, then was revived in 2005 as MasterChef Goes Large
  • John Torode joined the revamped series in 2005, where he teamed up with Gregg Wallace as hosts
  • Controversial moments? In March 2018, Gregg refused to judge Zaleha Kadir Olpin’s stewed chicken rendang dish as he claimed it was ‘not crispy enough and could not be eaten.’

Ben added: “This is what Cat Deeley has done to me.”

The future of John’s MasterChef partnership was thrown into doubt this week after it emerged co-host Gregg Wallace had been probed by BBC bosses over “inappropriate sexual comments” he allegedly made to a BBC staff member in 2018.

Wallace was also accused of being rude and insulting to women on a different show in 2023.

The BBC has recently pledged to clean up its bad behaviour.

Gregg yesterday spoke out on the allegations and admitted he made comments but denied they were sexual.

He emphasized that he loved his wife Anne-Marie Sterpini, who he wed in 2016.

The TV star said: “With reference to what’s in the newspapers, these allegations were investigated by the BBC six years ago.

“The allegations were investigations six years ago and my comments were found to be not sexual.

“I repeat, not sexual. Thank you everybody for your time.

“I don’t want anybody to misunderstand this and make it look like I was flirting with somebody. Nobody accused me of that and I never have.”
