Aaron Rodgers Quote Even More Questionable After Davanate Adams Trade

The Jets invested a lot around Aaron Rodgers, but he’ll continue to claim he has no power over the organization.

When New York fired head coach Robert Saleh, there was immediate speculation that Rodgers got him fired based on previous awkward interactions. The star quarterback “resented” those rumors and scoffed at the notion he played a role in the Jets’ surprise decision.

“It’s interesting the amount of power people think that I have, which I don’t,” Rodgers said on the “Pat McAfee Show” last week.

Speculation of Rodgers’ influence continued Tuesday when New York reportedly agreed to a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders to acquire Davante Adams. Rodgers and Adams mutually expressed a strong desire to reunite, and it seemed like a desperate move from the Jets after starting the season 2-4.

Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard are the Jets’ only reliable wide receivers, and it would only make sense to acquire Adams to keep Rodgers happy to avoid a lost season. The future Hall of Fame signal-caller might again hop on the “Pat McAfee Show” and claim he didn’t have any role in his team reuniting him with one of his favorite wide receivers. But the general public won’t buy that narrative.
