Jets Reportedly Swing Blockbuster Trade For Davante Adams

Davante Adams is headed to New York.

The Las Vegas Raiders are completing a trade of the star wide receiver to the New York Jets, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media. Adams will be acquired in exchange for a conditional third-round pick that can become a second-round pick, Adam Schefter of ESPN confirmed.

Adams seemingly was always going to end up in East Rutherford, N.J., with his former quarterback Aaron Rodgers campaigning for a trade after it became clear the 31-year-old wasn’t happy out in Las Vegas.

The Jets clearly wanted to get the deal done, too, as they are assuming the balance of his remaining salary, per Schefter. New York has an out after this season, and likely will take it as the veteran is due more than $70 million over the next two seasons if he’s retained.

New York caps off quite the week with its acquisition of the six-time Pro Bowl selection, having fired former head coach Robert Saleh just seven days prior. Adams will join an offense that is undergoing a wealth of changes, with former play-caller Nathaniel Hackett having just been replaced by Todd Downing in a loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday.

Rodgers and Adams will reunite after connecting on 622 completions for 7,590 yards and 69 touchdowns in 108 games across eight seasons together with the Green Bay Packers. The Jets surely won’t find a way to screw this up, right?
