Levy dreams of finding NFL franchise to call Tottenham home – Journalist claims
Alasdair Gold thinks that Daniel Levy is hoping for a major development regarding the NFL and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the future.
Tottenham’s stadium is a major money minter
Since its opening back in 2019, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has proven to be a major money printer for the North London club.
With the venue having a retractable pitch, it is able to host other sporting events and concerts on a regular basis, without having to worry about how it will impact the footballing calendar.
The biggest non-footballing event that occurs at N17 is the annual NFL fixtures, with the club having an agreement to host two games every season.
Levy’s dream
Gold has now predicted via Football.London that Levy hopes to one day find an NFL side willing to make the Spurs stadium their permanent home.
The Spurs chairman is allegedly dreaming about having an NFL side based in London, who will play their home games at Tottenham’s stadium.
That would open the door to having doubleheader weekends with both NFL and football, with both matches perhaps even taking place on the same day.
Not all Spurs fans are happy
A section of the Tottenham fan base on social media feels uneasy about the events hosted at the stadium, with many seeing them as evidence that Spurs are no longer a football club but rather an entertainment brand.
However, to compete at the highest level in the current financial landscape, it is imperative for clubs to find ways to generate higher revenue. Having a stadium that can host a lot of other major events is undoubtedly a huge advantage for Spurs.
