Child almost kidnapped inside Bronx apartment building: NYPD
THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – A 2-year-old was almost kidnapped while inside a Bronx apartment building's laundry room on Tuesday, according to the NYPD.
It happened on East 180th Street around 6:50 p.m. A woman, identified by police as 32-year-old Darlyn Thomas, was accused of following the toddler and their 23-year-old mother into the laundry room.
Thomas was then accused of grabbing the mother by the arm and demanding she give her the child, according to authorities. The mother was able to escape with her child and both were unharmed.
She's accused of fleeing into the elevator and getting off on the 12th floor of the building, police said.
Thomas was arrested Thursday night and charged with attempted kidnapping, according to authorities. She lives in the building where the attempted kidnapping happened.
