YouTube Gold: JJ Redick Gets A Positive Review As L.A.’s Head Coach

As you know, there was a lot of fuss when the Los Angeles Lakers named JJ Redick head coach over the summer.

He’s never coached! He’s not qualified And - behind it all - he’s JJ Redick!

On a certain level, Redick has always irritated some people. He had the nerve to be cocky in college - and could back it up. Then he had the nerve to succeed as an NBA player despite predictions of failure (not Red Auerbach though - he said that “Redick is more athletic than you think”).

And finally, he had the temerity - the temerity! - to move from podcasting to coaching a premiere franchise despite no experience.

The nerve!

Well now we’re starting to get an idea of what kind of a coach Redick will be. This video suggests that Redick could be - surprise - a very good offensive coach.

You can listen to the critique here but to an extent, what it honestly reminds us of is Danny Hurley’s UConn offense. It’s still quite early - the preseason is just wrapping up - but it sure looks like Redick and LA have gotten a lot done in a short period of time.
