SHOCKING: Google engineer claims she was rejected by tech firm due to…
A Delhi-based techie has revealed how being overqualified for a entry-level opening in a tech firm can be a hindrance rather than a blessing. In a post on X (formerly, Twitter), which has now gone viral, Annu Sharma, who works as a software engineer at Google, narrated her experience about how a tech company turned her down as they considered her “too good” for the job she had applied for.
“Didn’t know you could be rejected for being too good,” Sharma wrote while sharing a screenshot of her “rejection letter” in which the firm explained the reasons for rejecting her.
“The position you’ve applied for requires someone with the specific qualifications mentioned in the job description. After going through your resume, we realized that your qualifications significantly surpass the role requirements. Our experience has shown us that people with higher qualifications than what the job role needs often find their work unfulfilling and naturally, part ways soon after joining,” the letter reads.
Annu’s post has gone viral on the X with drawing varied responses from users on the platform with some finding the situation humorous, while others chided the recruiter for being “unable to recognise true talent”.
