‘Overmarked again!’ Strictly fans rage at Wynne Evans’ high scores despite ‘horrible mess’ routine

STRICTLY fans have accused the judges of ‘overmarking’ Wynne Evans yet again and branded his latest routine a ‘horrible mess’.

The opera singer has had a difficult week after he and pro partner Katya Jones apologised for their controversial “joke” during last Saturday’s live show.

While the duo have put on a united front – and Katya insisted she hadn’t been uncomfortable by the moment – Strictly viewers did notice they were hardly visible in the Clauditorium before their routine.

Wynne and Katya were the penultimate performers of the night, dancing a Quickstep to Mr Blue Sky by ELO.

It featured Wynne getting paint on his brightly coloured outfit after sitting on a freshly painted bench, ending up with tissue stuck to his shoe and finally a ‘bird pooping’ on his head in the final seconds.

The judges were full of praise for the fun routine and he ended up scoring 33, with two nines in the mix.

However, Strictly viewers did not agree with the judges and felt they had overmarked Wynne, and not for the first time.

Taking to X – formerly Twitter – one wrote: “9s for Wynne is INSANE… why do they overmark him EVERY week.”

Another added: “I must be really missing something with Wynne because I think he’s always overmarked. He’s a lovely guy and he’s doing really well but a 9? Same as Tasha? Sarah? There’s no comparison for me but hey ho.”

A third tweeted: “Wynne was completely over marked. Good old Strictly stitch up as usual.”

Meanwhile some viewers felt the judges had been told to score Wynne and Katya highly on purpose to keep them in after last week’s furore.

One wrote: “9???? F*** off. Guess who @bbcstrictly are stacking the decks for. Ain’t gonna happen now. Wynne Evans needs to be gone.”

A fellow viewer shared a gif of money being exchanged between two men and wrote: “BBC told the judges to vote high for Wynne & Kat to keep them in.”

A third raged: “That score for Wynne and Katya was absolutely b******s btw, smacks of trying to protect him because they know people might not vote after the drama last week.”

Strictly Curse - The Lowdown

STRICTLY Come Dancing's latest series has already been hit by rumours of a BBC show 'curse' - yet what is it?

A host of Strictly Come Dancing stars have been struck by the Strictly Curse during the past two decades.

This is where celebrities who may or may not be attached in the outside world become more than friends with their professional partners.

A total of 20 relationships are said to have been impacted so far over the show’s 20 years.

It has seen relationships crumble with dance floor romances and punishing rehearsal schedules to blame.

This includes the partnerships of Louise and Jamie Redknapp as well as Kevin Clifton and Karen Hauer.

Controversially, Judge Craig Revel Horwood once said of the curse: “I think of it as a blessing, to be honest. One person is married, the other one had a girlfriend but my point in this entire thing is: if you come on Strictly, sometimes you are in a relationship that is not working anyway.

“There has to be something wrong in your relationship before it all goes awry.”

Series one winner Brendan Cole left his fiancé, fellow Strictly professional Camilla Dallerup, during filming for the very first series in spring 2004.

Brendan was said to have fallen for his celebrity partner and inaugural winner Natasha Kaplinsky, although the duo didn’t confirm they were romantically involved.
