The Spectrum: Countdown to election day

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- This week on The Spectrum:  

  • Two weeks out from the general election, do you know what Issue 1 will mean for Ohio’s gerrymandered political districts? 

“We need to put a system in place that will allow for the voice of the people to be heard and to be respected,” former Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court Maureen O’Connor said. 

"No accountability, no restrictions on how you can draw districts, and no fiscal accountability,” Ohio Senate President Matt Huffman said. “Those are three big problems.” 

We take a look at what the amendment says and what you will see on your ballot. 

  • Brace yourself for a nonstop flood of political ads, sometimes with outlandish claims. We're fact-checking Ohio’s hotly contested Senate race. 

“The reason why politicians appeal to fact-checkers is because they’re worried that the ad is doing damage,” Republican strategist Ryan Stubenrauch said. 

“I’ll say to all Ohioans, ‘Congratulations.’ On Nov. 6, you got to get your television sets back,” Democratic strategist David Pepper said.
