Mohammed Shami returns for BGT? Bowls at full tilt in nets after India’s defeat against New Zealand, video goes viral | WATCH

New Delhi: India’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami was seen bowling for about an hour at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday after India’s defeat in the first Test match against New Zealand. This could be a big relief news for Team India. Shami did a long bowling practice with assistant coach Abhishek Nair. During this, Shami was wearing a black T-shirt and half pants and he had tied a bandage on his left knee as a precaution. The pacer was seen sweating it out in the nets in a desperate attempt to get fit for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy next month against Australia.

Shami bowled many good balls:

Mohammed Shami was bowling around the wicket to left-handed batter Nair and was focusing on bowling good length. Throughout the session, Shami bowled with his rhythm and accuracy. Sometimes he surprised Nair with good balls. Along with the assistant coach, Shami also bowled to Shubman Gill with a slightly shorter run-up while bowling coach Morne Morkel was watching him carefully.

Did not play after the World Cup:

Before the first Test against New Zealand, captain Rohit Sharma almost ruled out Mohammed Shami from the Australia tour, saying that his recovery from ankle surgery was being delayed due to swelling in his knee. Rohit had insisted that it would not be wise to take the bowler in “unfinished” form for such a high-profile series. Shami played his last match in the 2023 World Cup final last year.

Before the start of the Test series against New Zealand, Rohit had said, “To be honest, it is difficult to make a call on him for the Australia series. He had a setback and had swelling in his knees. That put him back a little bit and had to start again. He’s at the NCA with doctors and physios. We don’t want to bring undercooked Shami to Australia. We are keeping our fingers crossed.”
