I’m an interior designer – the 3 ugliest items in Ikea, I know they’re cheap I beg you not to buy them

IKEA is often our go to home store when we want to spruce up our space on a budget.

But one interior designer has revealed the cheap prices may not be worth ruining your home for.

People were left offended by one accessory she warned was so ugly[/caption]

Annie Elliot, from the US, took to social media and headed to her local Ikea store to tell her fans what they should avoid buying.

She first stopped and looked at their floor lamp which featured an uplighter lamp as well as a reading light for just £12.

But she warned people to never buy it, adding: “Literally, this is the worst. Please don’t buy it. It is so ugly.”

She said the ceiling light bounces down making the lighting in any room unattractive while the reading lamp would never be used.

Annie also hated the fluffy bath mats that can be purchased for £20 as she said they were too big, especially for apartments and harder to wash than towelling mats.

Last but not least, the interior designer said she would avoid the £14 Digintet curtain wire to use as extra storage for things like jewellery and glasses.

She revealed they were so hard to install she had to get an expert in – defeating the point of it being budget friendly.

“I beg you not to buy this floor lamp!! And while we’re at it, let’s talk bathmats and things to hang on your walls,” Annie captioned the post.

The clip has since gone viral on her TikTok account @annieelliottdesign with over 6 million views

One person wrote: “It’s cheap and creates light, that’s all I need when I’m on a budget lol.”

Another commented: “Excuse me ma’am.. my Ikea lamp doesn’t need to hear you speak poorly of him, he’s right next to me.”

“Those lamps – it’s a lesson we all learn. 100% agree on the bath mat vs floor towel,” penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “Annie I have every one of these items. You’re killing me here.”

Trends interior designers hate

IF you want to ensure that your home looks glam, here are the trends that interior designers can't stand.

NO YELLOW: According to Bilal Rehman, yellow paint in a bedroom is a big no no.

He said: “If you want everyone to know you’re a horse girl then yellow is perfect for you.”

SIGN OFF: Kelly Hoppen shared her honest thoughts on Live, Love, Laugh signs.

The interior pro explained: “Another gripe of mine – Live, Laugh, Love – those kinds of wooden things that sit on book shelves and floating shelves, that’s so 10, 12, 15 years ago.”

NO GREY YAY: Julie Provenzano explained that grey interiors have been overdone.

She stressed: “We took a good thing and we overdid it to the point that it now feels copy, paste, basic.”

“You aren’t invited to my house, I’m scared you’d insult all my home decor,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “You need to be telling me what to buy then.”
