Three Bold Predictions: Bears vs. Commanders
The Bears enter week 8 with a 4-2 record following a much needed bye week. This week, they’ll be in the primetime window as they take on the 5-2 Washington Commanders. Here are my three bold predictions for this matchup.
Rome Odunze catches 2 touchdown passes
Rome Odunze has flown under the radar in the 2024 wide receiver draft class, mainly because of the talented vets performances ahead of him. DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, and Cole Kmet are all having productive seasons, and Caleb Williams is distributing the ball effectively across his surplus of weapons. But for some reason this just feels like a breakout game from Rome.
Bears defense give up 22+ points
If Jayden Daniels plays, I believe this Matt Eberflus-led defense will allow 22 or more points for the first time in 12 games, which was the longest active streak in the NFL. I hope I’m wrong, but missing Jaquan Brisker and Kyler Gordon may make it too difficult to slow down a Daniels-led offense.
Jayden Daniels gets the start
I might be in the minority here, but I believe rookie QB Jayden Daniels will actually play on Sunday. He’s clearly expressed that he wants to, and since it’s a rib injury, I think it will come down to his pain tolerance more than anything else. While I’d love for the Bears to catch a break and face Marcus Mariota instead, I just don’t think that’s how it will turn out.
Final Score Prediction
Bears 27 Commanders 24
