BORING salads and never-ending cardio sessions on the treadmill – two things we usually associate with losing weight.
However, according to one ”former lazy girl”, shedding the pounds is easier than you’d think – and there are tips that didn’t cost her a single thing.
The fitness lover took to TikTok to reveal how she managed to shed loads of weight thanks to four simple tips[/caption] According to the ‘former lazy girl’, you can still enjoy Nando’s – as long as you are clever about what you’re ordering[/caption]Dark-haired beauty Bilan took to TikTok to list the four simple changes she made in her lifestyle to lose weight the ”lazy” way.
So, if you’re looking to drop some pounds before the festive season arrives or have set yourself new goals, keep on reading.
Skip the gym
Contrary to what so many fitness influencers and weight loss success stories tell you, Bilan advised to not kickstart the process with arduous gym sessions working out and lifting weights.
Instead, be gentle with yourself and start by going on walks ”after you eat your food especially”.
”Once you have breakfast, lunch or dinner, just go for a walk, get your steps up, get your body used to physical activity.”
Once you feel like your body is ready to up the game a little, that’s when you can start heading to the gym, she said in the video.
Hydration station
By now, we should all know that staying hydrated is essential – and it’s even more important to consume water when you’re trying to lose weight.
Showing off her baby pink water bottle by Lululemon, the fitness lover said she carried it with her practically everywhere and always full to the brim.
Keeping hydrated can aid weight loss in a number of ways, including suppressing appetite, boosting metabolism, replacing sugary calories, helping with digestion and helping your body remove waste.
According to Medical News Today, women should drink about 9 cups of water a day, and men should drink about 13 cups.
Make moves in silence
Although for many this phrase may sound ”cringe”, Bilan said that ”nobody should know that you are losing weight”.
”Because as soon as you start telling people ‘Oh my God, I am starting a weight loss journey’, they’re gonna start saying ‘Well done, congrats’.
”They’re gonna start giving you compliments, they’re gonna start giving you your flowers – however, you are going to start getting the endorphins that you should be getting once you’ve lost the weight.”
To make sure you actually embark on the journey – something Bilan struggled with for years before committing to it properly – she advised to best keep it a secret with two to three people you trust the most.
How cutting out sugar can help you lose weight
It might sound obvious, but cutting out sugar can help you lose weight - and this is why
- Reduced alorie intake: Sugar is calorie-dense but not nutrient-dense, meaning it provides a lot of calories without making you feel full. By cutting out sugar, you naturally reduce your overall caloric intake, which can create a calorie deficit and lead to weight loss.
- Lower Insulin Levels: Consuming sugar, especially in large amounts, causes spikes in blood sugar levels, leading to increased insulin production. Insulin is a hormone that promotes fat storage. By reducing sugar intake, you can help stabilize blood sugar and insulin levels, making it easier for your body to burn fat.
- Decreased Cravings: Sugar can be addictive and lead to cravings for more sugary foods. By cutting it out, you may find that your cravings for unhealthy, high-calorie foods decrease, making it easier to stick to a healthier diet.
- Improved Satiety: Foods high in sugar are often low in fiber and protein, which are essential for feeling full and satisfied. By replacing sugary foods with more nutrient-dense options like fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains, you can increase your satiety and reduce overall calorie consumption.
- Better Nutrient Intake: When you cut out sugary foods, you often make room for more nutritious foods. This can improve your overall diet quality, providing your body with the vitamins and minerals it needs to function optimally, which can support weight loss efforts.
- Reduced Fat Storage: High sugar intake, particularly from fructose, can lead to increased fat production in the liver, contributing to weight gain and obesity. Cutting out sugar helps to reduce this effect.
- Enhanced Metabolism: Reducing sugar can improve metabolic health, including better insulin sensitivity and lower risk of metabolic syndrome, which can facilitate weight loss.
By cutting out sugar and replacing it with healthier options, you can create a more balanced and sustainable diet that supports weight loss and overall well-being.
Don’t go cold turkey on junk food
As Brits – and so many nations around the world – we do love a cheeky takeaway and junk food.
But instead of ditching it altogether, Bilan said it’s best to ”start having take-out that’s a little bit healthier”, such as grilled chicken from Nando’s.
”When I first started losing weight, [Nando’s] was a game-changer for me. They grill their chicken, they don’t fry their chicken. Just stay away from the fries, the rice and all of that kind of stuff.”
In terms of the sides complimenting the meal, the foodie recommended sticking to the sweet corn and broccoli.
”You guys need to wean yourself off of these things – that’s why it can sometimes be so hard to lose weight.
”The best things in life take time so no need to rush perfection. If you wanna lose the weight and keep it off it’s always better to start slowly and ease yourself into becoming the ideal version if yourself that you want to be,” she added in the caption.
