Dancing On Ice fix row MONTHS before series start as fans rage star has been given ‘ticket to the final’
DANCING On Ice fans have raged one of the celebrities taking part has been given a ‘ticket to the final’.
It comes after it was announced that Vanessa Bauer will be paired with former Love Island star Chris Taylor, 34, when series 17 of the ITV show starts early next year.
Fans think Chris has been given a free ride to the final after pairing up with Vanessa[/caption]And 28-year-old Vanessa, who is a trained acrobat and dancer, has certainly had her fair share of younger celebrity dance partners over the years.
In the last series, she was partnered with 28-year-old Made In Chelsea star Miles Nazaire, and made the final.
Vanessa first joined the show in 2018, and was paired up with X Factor and I’m A Celebrity star Jake Quickenden, going on to win the show that year.
She previously danced with Love Island star Wes Nelson – they finished runners-up in 2019.
The year after that she was with Britain’s Got Talent star Perri Kiely, from dance group Diversity, and also finished second.
In 2021, she skated with Emmerdale actor Joe Warren Plant, who was just 18 at the time, but they had to withdraw after testing positive for Covid.
Vanessa was romantically linked to Wes at the time they skated together – but it was when paired up with TOWIE star Joey Essex in 2023 that the two were thought to have grown much closer than just skating partners.
In fact it was recently reported that Joey’s friend and TOWIE co-star Dan Edgar, who is a contestant on the new series of DOI, refused to skate with Vanessa because of his loyalty to Joey.
She and Joey finished second, but to be fair to Vanessa she also did so the year before, when paired up with former Strictly star Brendan Cole, who is 20 years her senior.
But fans don’t think the show has a fair system for matching up skaters and celebrities.
One asks on Instagram: “Is it on her contract to get the young, good-looking lads?” While another says: “What a shock, she always gets the young good skaters”.
And another already describes the pairing as “My winner”, with someone else commenting: “Vanessa ALWAYS gets a good un”.
